9/25 Say You're One of Them question #2

Throughout many storylines there are figurative meanings that can be symbolic through a object or event. In the story of “say you’re one of them, written by Uwem Akpan the author symbolize Mama’s dress as trickery. Mama’s littery dress to make us think that it’s fancy and expensive so in that way her younger children Monique and her brother Jean thinks that their parents going on date for a while. Mama’s glittery dress represent when it is dirty that she’d been wrestling on the ground all night and she smells of sweat. Mama knew that what was going on and she aware that they will be looking her next. This is very hard for Monique to understand what was going on but, she think that her mother was looking nice so, everything will be fine as usual.

The roof of the house is example of the Tutsi population, because they dying so many each and every day. The ceiling almost will collapse is she put two more.  “I cry with the ceiling people until my voice cracks and my tongue dry up.” Pgs(351) the quote represent metaphor she cries along the dead because no one can ever call her Shenge again. Also she will be silently crying with them as well.

Homework # 2 due 9/17

Which details help you to relate to or identify with the narrator of the story?

The most details that help me to identify are sights, sounds and smells for example, it's Saturday evening and has fallen behind the hills. Another example that I found is for sound is Jeans cries in the darkness, but once she starts kissing him she begins to giggle. Finally for smells the sequins on her dress glitter(sparkle) in the candlelight as if her heart were on fire.  Moreover, there were only few of Tastes and Textures of the story. such as for Textures I found is i have no voice, and my legs have melted like butter in the sun. second example that I found  is we eat rice and fish and return to room.

In this article, Rieckhoff writes about a dramatic rescue attempt that he witnessed in the aftermath of 9/11. A doctor is forced to make a difficult decision about how to save a young woman. Do you agree with his decision? Use evidence from the text to support your argument. Then, compare this event to a time in your own life when you have made a difficult decision or sacrificed something for someone else.

i agree on the decision they made because they are bascially trying to gave her opportunity to sruvive rather than to be dead. therefore, in this sitiation there is no time to think or wait for something.

A long ago i had such hard time to made a difficlut decision one of street kids. one day i was walked toward my home i saw one of the street kids had been injured for example he can't even walked properly. He was not even my realtive. i was wondering why should i helped him? The blood was all over his leg i felt bad for him. there was nobody around him to help beside me. All of the sudden i realized if i were in that situation. so i made my decision to save his life to took him to the doctor to gave him chance to alive. In conclusion we all see some incident happend front of our eyes but we are scared to help.
